As the legendary Barney Stinson once said, “Hey loser! How’s not playing laser tag? Because playing laser tag is awesome!”

And you know what? He’s right!

There’s something about your mid-twenties that makes you want to relive your childhood. For my friends and I, that meant checking out Bangkok’s best gaming spots, from board games and escape rooms to laser tag and arcades.

In this guide, I’ll share my top recommendations for fun places in Bangkok to bring out your inner gamer!

1. Rush B Tactical Laser Game

Rush B is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s not the easiest place to get to, but it’s probably my favorite one on this list.

While it’s smaller than some of the other places on this list, it makes up for it with its cozy feel and friendly staff. When we went, it was relatively empty, probably because of its location. The street leading up to the parking area had a bit of a sketchy feel, but once you step inside, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how charming the place is.

For 499 Baht, you get all-day, buffet access to laser tag, board games, pool, and consoles such as PS1, PS4, Wii, and GameBoy.

The staff are also super helpful, especially with board games—they’ll walk you through the rules during the first round. Most staff speak Thai, but a few can explain things in English, so we had no trouble picking up the games.

They have their little mini bar where you can buy food and drinks. But they were also nice enough to let us bring in pizza from outside.

Their laser tag games had several modes to keep things interesting. Team Deathmatch is the classic choice, with two teams battling each other. It’s kind of like Counterstrike and Call of Duty. They also had an ‘F4’ mode where teams battled to protect their bases. The arena itself is spacious enough and indoors. The air conditioning is definitely a welcome bonus, especially when you’re running around the entire game to avoid getting hit.

You can decide how many laser tag rounds to play, they’ll run sessions throughout the day. They also have lockers for your things, so you don’t have to worry about losing stuff while you’re in the arena.

We had so much fun there that the hours just went by fast. It’s an awesome place really, and we’d for sure go back one of these days!

2. Gamesmith

Gamesmith is similar to the first place I mentioned, but twice the size. They also have activities like laser tag, board games, pool, and classic arcade games.

The venue itself is quite big. The first floor had all the games and an outdoor laser tag arena, while the second floor had private rooms for groups. It’s probably one of the larger gaming centers in Bangkok, they even have a cafeteria where you can order food and drinks.

When we went, it was during a long weekend so the place was pretty packed. The staff saw us having trouble finding a table so they offered us a room upstairs, which was really nice of them! But we declined it anyway since we wanted to be closer to the arena and arcade games. Most of the games were taken so you had to queue up, but the table games were always free so there’s always something to do while you wait for your turn.

The laser tag arena was fun! You score by shooting others and lose points if you’re shot. Sadly, I was one of the last on the score list :’) If you want to play, you’ll need to get a queue card from the staff in front of the arena entrance. They also have lockers for keeping your stuff safe.

Besides that, we played pool, table tennis, darts, and a flight simulator. The band simulator was by far my favorite! A free photo from their photo booth is also included in the entrance price, that was a fun touch : )

3. Battlefield Bangkok

Battlefield Bangkok is a haven if you’re into board games. My friends and I came here to look for D&D packs and dice, and we were not let down. The store lives up to its promise of being “a board game and hobby store, run by gamers for gamers.” They had an impressive range of board games, and the owner was not only very knowledgeable and friendly but also spoke excellent English.

On their website, they promote 100% no fees for tables, rooms, or in-store game usage. They also have a coffee shop that serves drinks and snacks. Plus, they’re right next to a beer garden and some of my go-to restaurants like Devilish and Hunter’s.

We bought several things there like dice, D&D books, figurines, and Game of Thrones displays—all of which were great quality. If you’re into this kind of stuff, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out. I read that they also host meetups here, which is pretty cool.

4. ESCAPE ROOM THAILAND MBK

Escape Room Thailand is located in MBK mall, which is a pretty convenient location given that our friends live in different parts of the city. We decided to try this one because it’s also the first thing that pops up when you look for escape rooms in Bangkok.

There were ten of us, so we had to divide into two groups since each room only allowed 5 players. My group played Room 13, and it was an enjoyable experience overall. The puzzles were fun, though some were fairly obvious. Beyond just puzzle-solving skills, you might also need a bit of organizational skills to piece together all the information you have. My tip? Use your phone to note down things, especially with the last room. If everyone is just shouting answers, it’s hard to keep track of all the clues. They gave us 45 minutes to finish the round, but we got stuck in the last room because of a faulty prop. But the staff gave us extra time to finish.

They had some puzzles in the waiting area which is nice for some pre-game practice.

Overall, a solid choice for first-timers wanting to experience escape rooms! If you’re planning to go with friends, make sure to book in advance.

5. Game Bar Guild Soi 26

This last one is more of a special mention since it’s a place we’re only planning to check out soon. We found this gem through social media.

Basically, if you like drinking but prefer a chill vibe over loud clubs (like us), then you might want to check out GameBar Guild!

It mixes your love for gaming with a laid-back social scene. Based on the reviews we saw, the place had a variety of consoles from retro to modern PlayStations and Wii. Plus, it’s located near the BTS, making it easy to access. It sounds perfect for unwinding after a long week, and plus, they have free-flow drinks!
